2-D Art Contest
We empower students. One of the unique ways we do this is with our annual photography contest for high school students in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. This year, we are excited to announce that we are expanding our contest to include all forms of 2-D art! We’ve created an outlet for students to use art to represent an emotion.
Call to Artist
This year, our “Call to Artist” is to submit a piece of art that conveys an emotion. Emotions can be comfortable emotions such as joy or love; or uncomfortable emotions such as fear, anger, or sadness.
Submissions will not be accepted after midnight on Friday, April 6, 2018.
For entrants under the age of 18, the Parent Consent Form under Documents for Download must be signed and submitted by email to Marlize Adair or mailed to Frameworks of Tampa Bay at 402 East Oak Avenue, Tampa FL 33602 (ATTN: Marlize Adair). Additionally, if your chosen work is a photograph or painting that includes a model, please fill out the Photo Model Release Form.

Artist Statement: My photo “Ignited” illustrates how even when darkness seeps into your life, there is always a light. Last year, my father left. He left without warning or discussion. I remember waking up to the sound of my mom in tears every day. I remember her losing weight, sleep, and happiness because of it. As time passed, I began to see the light in the darkness. In my photography, my subjects are luminous in the darkest of places at the darkest of times. With this photo, I wanted to remind people that if any sorrow comes into your life, cling to whatever may bring you joy. Grasp the light that keeps you happy, that keeps you going, and never let it go. There will always be a spark that, however small, will keep your own flame from burning out and ignite you to pull you from the dark… so find it.
