Relevant Work Experience:
Julia brings more than 25 years of experience across K–12 education, higher education, and community outreach. As Honors Coordinator and Enrollment Development Coordinator at Hillsborough Community College, she led strategic recruitment and outreach initiatives to increase college access for diverse and underrepresented students, developed and delivered bilingual presentations and workshops on college readiness, financial aid, and career exploration. She taught Honors Leadership and First-Year Experience courses which focused on student success, belonging, and leadership development. Julia also worked as an MTSS/RtI Facilitator for Hillsborough County Public Schools, where she designed and delivered professional learning for educators, counselors, and school leaders on data-driven decision-making and systems that support the whole child. Her work included developing continuous improvement plans that reduced student absences and suspensions while increasing academic achievement, and leading collaborative teams focused on closing achievement gaps through evidence-based interventions.
Earlier in her career, Julia served as an Assistant Principal, teacher, and ELL Learning Coach, providing instructional leadership, mentoring educators, and fostering student-centered learning environments. At Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Julia served as a Community Outreach Coordinator managing multi-county safety prevention grants and developing training programs for community stakeholders that strengthened partnerships among schools, families, and local organizations.
