Calm Through The Storm

Natural Disaster Preparedness Resources for Educators

Thanks to the generous support of the Community Foundation, Frameworks of Tampa Bay is excited to share Calm Through the Storm with all!

This resource was developed to support students in the aftermath of community-wide challenges, such as the hurricanes Tampa Bay experienced in 2024. Organized by grade-level bands, the lessons empower students to name their emotions, manage overwhelming feelings, and regain a sense of safety.

Although originally created in response to considerable community challenges, these lessons can be used any time students are navigating big emotions such as anger, anxiety, or sadness. You can use the content as a complete curriculum or as stand-alone lessons depending on your students’ needs!

We’re happy to provide teachers with the digital versions so that you and your team can access it anytime, anywhere.

Here’s what you’ll find at our resource library below:

  • A complete curriculum overview for grades K–8;
  • Ready-to-use lessons, activities, and teacher slides for grades K–2, 3–5, and 6–8 on topics such as dealing with anxiety and worryvisualizing safety, and identifying feelings;
  • Parent resources that align with each lesson;
  • Pre-made lesson slides;
  • Student activity sheets;
  • Parent resources after each lesson that gives them information on how to support their child at home.

We hope Calm Through the Storm supports you, your students, and families with practical tools for resilience and emotional well-being.

As always, thank you for everything you do to nurture emotional intelligence in the students you teach and support every day.
